Rotate the engine in the direction of rotation until the TDC mark on the crankshaft pulley aligns with the timing pointer, with both valves on no 1 cylinder fully closed.
Camshaft removal. 1. Remove the radiator and grille panel, 2. remove the exhaust manifold, remove the timing gear cover, remove the timing chain tensioner. Remove the camshaft chainwheel and timing chain. Refitting : Before attemping to fit the camshaft bearings to the cylinder block, ensure that the bearings halves fit together correctly on the dowels by checking that no light is visible between the joint faces.
